Victorian pine trunk. This large-sized trunk features a hinged lid, allowing for easy access to its spacious interior. Its size means it could easily act as a sideboard.
What makes this trunk truly unique is its shabby chic appearance, achieved through a previous white paint job that has beautifully aged over time. The distressed finish adds character and a sense of history to this already captivating piece.
But the real treasure lies within the trunk itself. Upon opening, you'll discover a delightful surprise - the interior is lined with authentic newspapers from the year 1858 and similar. One of these newspapers even showcases a depiction of the Duke of Wellington's funeral, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.
Condition report- in good/used condition commensurate with age and use. A few scuffs and scrapes. The inside is a little dusty, but I’ve left it as it came to us, to preserve the newspaper inside. The planked lid and sides reveal some cracking to the paint where the wood swells and shrinks depending on its storage conditions. Various points of wear to the paint but all adds to the amazing charm of this piece.
