Antique Oak Desk / Mid Century Desk /retro Office Desk / Wake & Dean / George V
Beautiful old oak desk
Underneath the desk are attribution stamps showing this desk was made by Wake and Dean and a Government Crown stamp signifying Government issue during George V reign can be found also. On the top of one front leg can also seen another stamp with a crown and HW below, I’m unsure of this one but these usually denote the department the desk was used in. These were well constructed in solid oak. It survives in good order with no wobbles or sways, solid with the original green Rexine top and original crown marked handles which present with the most beautiful amount of wear.
Condition report- In good/used condition. Showing signs of previous use with ink stains and signs of wear to the wood - commensurate with age and use. The Rexine top bares the usual marks and a little loss to one corner but just adds to the charm in my opinion. Overall, a sturdy and very handsome desk.
